More February Announcements
Good evening LPE families! I hope you are all well and are having a positive week! Things have been busy here at Loma Portal lately and I wanted to make sure you were all up to date on the latest news. As we continue to lead, parent, and educate through this prolonged pandemic, our LPE team continues to be inspired by our community’s support and partnership. Together, we will continue to endure challenges and celebrate successes. Remember to take care of each other, stay healthy, and stay positive! Please see below for some updates:
1. Tomorrow night (2/26) at 7pm is our very first LPE Virtual BINGO night! It should be a lot of fun… complete with prizes, guest number callers, and a DANCE OFF! I’m looking forward to it. 2. Many of you have heard the news about SDUSD potentially reopening further this Spring. Very exciting! As always, I will continue to keep you as up to date as possible with the latest news about what this will look like. The district is still planning specifics around what a reopening of school will entail, but in the meantime, below are some helpful links.

3. Construction Update – Our district will be repaving/repairing/repainting some blacktop, asphalt, and cement areas around our campus. This work will begin Monday 3/1 and should last throughout the month of March. Although this will result in a much more beautiful and SAFE campus, the month of March will be a noisy one here at LPE. Our apologies neighbors!
*Note – Our wall ball walls will NOT be touched for the time being. I am continually working with SDUSD to repair those walls without removing the beautiful artwork that decorates them. More info to follow.
3. Reminder – Our next Point Loma Cluster Schools Foundation meeting is this Monday 3/1 at 4:30pm. See below for more info:
March 1st @ 4:30 - PLCSF Meeting - Supporting Social Emotional Well Being for Parents
Topic: Explore the concept of Social Emotional Well Being the role the Pandemic (and the related changes) may have upon us and our children. Learn healthy ways to support your own social emotional health and well-being. Experts from the SDUSD Mental Health Resource Center will present strategies for parents and share connections to the work taking place in our schools.
Janelle Chiu, Supervising Licensed Mental Health Clinician with SDUSD Mental Health Resource Center and Yuka Sakamoto, Interim Program Manager with SDUSD, Mental Health Resource Center will give a 30 minute presentation to staff and parents during our March 1st Point Loma Cluster Foundation meeting.
