Loma Portal Elementary School was built in 1914 to serve the students and families moving into the developing neighborhood of Loma Portal in Point Loma, California.
Located on Browning Street, the school is a fixture in the unique and charming neighborhood whose streets are named after 18th-century authors and poets. A gem of Spanish Revival architecture, the school sits atop the hill above the former Naval Training Center (currently Liberty Station) with unobstructed views of San Diego Bay and downtown San Diego.
For 100 years, Loma Portal Elementary School has been dedicated to nurturing excellence in education for all of her students. In celebration of this legacy, the school is observed its Centennial during the school year of 2014-2015. A large collection of memorabilia and historic photos are available for alumni and the community to view and enjoy. Please contact the school office at 619-860-5600 to make an appointment to peruse the collection with a staff member or parent volunteer.
