Thursday Announcements
Good evening LPE families! Welcome to mid-March! I hope you are all having a productive week. As usual, I wanted to update you on a few things (below). Can’t wait to see you all soon! --MM
1. Principal’s Coffee TOMORROW 3/12 at 9:30am! At this event, I will be presenting some information about our budget for 2021-2022 and speak about our upcoming plan for reopening (and of course reserve time for Q & A). Hope to see you there!
2. Reopening Update: Our district is continuing to focus on a reopening date of 4/12 (as ling as we are in the RED tier). Please keep in mind that we will not be fully reopening at this time and will be opening using a HYBRID model. Our students will spend part of their time on campus during the week, while doing asynchronous work at home for other parts of the week. Schedules, start times, end times, etc. are still not available yet but I THANK you for your patience. Our district and various unions want to open schools, but they would like to do so in a safe manner for the benefit of our students, families, and staff. Both sides are still currently bargaining what the school day will look like. Continue to check our district’s website HERE for updates.
3. Recently, our district sent all families a survey requesting information about each family’s preference for their child’s return to school (on campus vs. virtual). If you haven’t done so already, please complete this survey asap (one per child). Your responses DO NOT lock you into anything. Our district is simply using this information to inform what their reopening plan will look like and we need to know how many parents will elect to keep their child at home once we return to campus. You can access the survey HERE (English) or HERE (Espanol). Thank you!
4. This year’s Spring Parent Conference week will be 3/22-3/26. During this week, teachers will be limiting their synchronous Zoom time to 2 hours daily to give them time to conduct their parent conferences.
5. Grades will be available beginning 3/22 on the Powerschool Parent Portal. For help in accessing Powerschool, a Job Aid is attached HERE. Please let me know if you need any further support.
6. Spring Break will be observed 3/29-4/2. All district schools will be “closed’ during this week.
7. Spring PHOTO DAY will be 3/26. This will be a DRIVE UP event and our photographers will be set up near our Auditorium. Parents are required to remain in their cars while students get their photo taken OUTSIDE in front of the Auditorium. These photos will be used for our Yearbook so please try to stop by! More details will be coming soon. The tentative photo schedule is below.
Tentative Photo Schedule for 3/26:
9am-11am: Open photo availabilities. First come first served for students in ANY grade. Since this timeframe is when our teachers usually do their morning Zoom sessions, we have also arranged afternoon blocks of time split up by grade.
11am-12pm: Students in TK/K
12pm-1pm: Students in Grades 1 and 2
1pm-2pm: Students in Grade 3
2pm-3pm: Students in Grade 4
*If you have children in multiple grades, you may choose one timeslot.
